THE BLACK MUSEUM Opening in 1875, the Crime Museum at Scotland Yard is the oldest museum in the world purely for recording crime. The name "Black Museum" was coined in 1877 by a reporter from "The Observer", a London newspaper, although the museum is still referred to as the Crime Museum. It is this museum that inspired The Black Museum radio series, produced in London by Harry Alan Towers. From Jay Hickerson's "The Ultimate History of Network Radio Programming and... PHILO VANCE Philo Vance was the detective creation of S. S. Van Dine first published in the mid 1920s. Vance, in the original books, is an intellectual so highly refined he seems he might be ghostwritten by P. G. Wodehouse. Take this quote from The Benson Murder Case, 1924, as Vance pontificates in his inimitable way: "That's your fundamental error, don't y' know. Every crime is witnessed by outsiders, just as is every work of art. The fact that no one sees the criminal, or the artist,... I was annoyed that files derived from this movie lost audio after 17 minutes of play, so that it was necessary to download or play the 3.8 GB MPEG-2 file. The Internet Archive tried to re-derive MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 files from it to fix this audio problem to no avail. I had better luck. The 1.02 GB MPEG-4 file listed was derived from the original MPEG-2 file using settings near the limit of the MPEG-4 codec and deinterlaced. Enjoy! IMDb ( 6 reviews ) Topics: Horror, Mystery

Auguste Dupin, was a brilliant detective who relied on superior deductive powers to solve the crime. He and his unnamed narrator companion solved this and two other mysteries.
